  1. Fables and Fairy Tales

    June 8 - July 27 @ Storybook Land Castle

    Aberdeen Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department and the Alexander Mitchell Public Library will be sponsoring eight special storytimes geared for children ages 3 to 7 in the Storybook Land Castle at Wylie Park. Storytimes will include a variety of stories and folk tales as well as songs and arts and crafts activities. "Fables and Fairy Tales" will begin at 10 AM and last approximately 40 minutes. Don't miss the big finale for "Fables and Fairy Tales" and "Dream Big - Read" library summer program. Everyone is welcome for this featured fun and excitement held on Friday, July 27 - 10 AM at the Storybook Land Castle.

  2. Concerts in the Park by the Aberdeen Municipal Band

    June 14 - August 2 @ Melgaard Park

    Join Bandmaster, Jerry Letcher, and the Aberdeen Municipal Band for one of their free weekly concerts at the Melgaard Park Bandshell this summer. Held every Thursday night at 8 PM, the concerts will begin June 14 and run through August 2. The band will feature special guest, faculty from the Rushmore Music Camp on Thursday, August 2. Do not miss this special performance! No concert July 5. The July 4th concert will be held at Wylie Park along with all the other July 4th activities. Whether you like nostalgic, patriotic, or exciting new songs, they're all here and sure to appeal to young and old alike . No charge. The Aberdeen Lioness Club offers concessions at the concerts including pop, water, popcorn and candy.

  3. Northern Fort Playhouse Presents "You Never Know" by Cole Porter

    July 6 - July 21 @ Fort Sisseton Historic State Park

    Music and Lyrics by Cole Porter Based on the play Candlelight by Siegfried Geyer, Karl Farkas and Robert Katscher. As adapted by Rowland Leigh Additional Adaptation by Paul Lazarus One summer evening in 1929 in an elegant penthouse suite at the Paris Hotel Ritz, a baron and his butler switch identities so that the butler can pursue a woman he believes is a lady of a much higher class. Actually, she is a maid in the service of Mme. Baltin, who has captured the baron's heart. Her jealous husband and an actress from the Follies Bergere round out the cast of this enchanting musical. The Playhouse will offer a Saturday dinner theatre option. There will be two dinner nights for this theatre presentation on July 14 and 21. Dinner seating will begin at 6 PM with the performance at 7:30 pm. You may purchase reserved tickets in advance at the Tom Farber Insurance Agency on Main Street in Britton beginning May 15.     July 7 - July 20 @ Fort Sisseton Historical State Park

    The newest comedy from Ken Ludwig. A tribute to the great English farces of the 1930s and 1940s, The Fox on the Fairway takes audiences on a hilarious romp which pulls the rug out from underneath the stuffy denizens of a private country club. Filled with mistaken identities, slamming doors, and over-the-top romantic shenanigans, it's a furiously paced comedy that recalls the Marx Brothers' classics.   6. Melgaard Park 2 Mile Fun Runs

    Wednesday July 11 and Wednesday August 1 This event is for the recreational runner as well as the avid runner of all ages. The course will highlight the recreational trail along Moccasin Creek. Times will be kept, but the event will be noncompetitive in nature. No advanced registration is necessary. Drawings will be held to give away prizes to participants.   7. "Filthy Fun Run" sponsored by Primrose Relay for Life Team

    July 14, All Day @ Wylie Park

    Filthy Fun Run is a 2.5 to 3 mile fun run/obstacle course fundraiser for Relay for Life. This course will include many obstacles including running through tires, climbing hay bales, a little swimming and crawling through sand and many more. Let's get dirty for a cure! Awards will be given for craziest costumes.
